Queensland State XCO Elite Championships 2013

XCO

7th - Elite Men

Bike for the weekend - Superfly 100 SL 2013

Not the result I was riding for but I'm still impressed with the form I had in between crashing 3 times :/

I was sitting in 1st for the start loop and 2k. When I got to the dual slalom course part of the wicked xc track, I washed over to the other side (video coming). I quickly got up to sit on Nelson Tilley's wheel, I then sat there up the whole climb half way round the lap where I tried to make a move to get in front for the decent, I called "right" and ended up on my face, happened very quick. I lost alot of time getting up and back to speed. for the next 3 of 4 laps I sat in second until I got a flat tire on the last lap, tried riding it out but burped it and when down the side of a rocky bank straight on my elbow and bashing up my knee (which was already pissing blood). I slowly made my way round the lap getting to cheer Alex Hockey on who was smacking it up the long climb, who recently shaved his chest for the event.

I crossed the line in 7th.

GRAVITY ENDURO

3rd - Elite

I made a clear decision that I wasn't going to race the gravity enduro, considering I had an elbow the size of a house, a bung knee and a sore wrist from flipping my roadie from a wheelie :P (have a hand on the rear brake it helps).

20 minutes before race start, I got talking to Peter Knott who got me keen to race, so threw my XC kit on and tried stretching out my wounds and elbow which had reduced to the size of a smaller house.

It was a crazy race, with no practise I was hitting every track Blind with a capital B.
