It was an interesting race. Nearly missed the start while I was warming up, so the gun went off as soon as I rolled up. I sat in third place with Michael Illing and Aiden Lefmann in the lead in our nice turn out of 12 riders in the Elite Men. I made a pass on the first lap and lead from then on.
last lap of 7 - punched all the climbs to the finished sprinted over the line and sat up, picked up one of my water bottles had a quick chat with a old fella turned around and went back to the finish where my mum and everyone in the pits were screaming! at me to keep going.....apparently I only did 6 laps. Off I went to do another lap thinking the whole time "where did I go wrong counting to 7?!?!"
I ended up with the win, Michael in second pipping Aiden on the last lap who has some mysterious form that keeps him going even tho he is catching all sorts of bird flew from the dreaded child care place.
It was a great day to race with my brother, James Forbes spectating who had just gotten back from a round the world trip.
