Cape to Cape - Day 2

21st in stage 2 and 3rd in Redbull Shootout!

These blogs are done on my phone after some hard days on the bike, so bare with me on the spllenig :P

Dean and Ed have down an outstanding effort running around look after the Torq riders 24/7 with occasional sleep. While also helping hundreds of other riders in the Cape to Cape. I cant thank them enough.

Today was a absolute gut buster here is the summary.

Woke up this morning and my flu and moved to my chest and throat so I did what I could to be less pusy.

Started with a nice slot sitting in top 7 lfor the first 40k but had a lot of trouble along the way.

Riding behind team mate Mark who Flipped over the bars between two trees then I hit his bike, flipped over and hit mark him self, we ran back to our wall of bikes. Burst a couple of gells in my pocket and hurt my wrist.

got back on.

Riding behind Kyle Ward when he got sideways in the sand I ended over bars with a branch stuck in my rear wheel and derailleur

Caught back up.

Got a bottle then flipped into a tree after my front wheel dug into the sand while i was taking a drink, ran into the bush looking for my bottle that I knew needed to finish. Jumped on the bike and my seat post went down 2 inches :/

Missed the turn off and did an extra 6ks before finding the turn.

By then I was like fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffruitloops

76ks all up.

Supriseingly I felt really strong the whole race, just didnt have much luck with the setbacks. Putting me from 7th overall to 21st overall.

REDBULL SHOWDOWN

Before my race my wrist was pretty sore and making me really usless to the team which was frustrating. I missed practising the first half of the super D but it didnt seem to affect my run considering it was mostly a monster hill. The second half was a killer decent with berms, table tops and other jumps all covered in the worst pea gravel.so sketchy. The finish was two big rollers then straight into a selection of mad jumps.

I had a clean race and stoked with my result.

Day 3 coming up.

Thank You Torq, you guys are life savers.
